Q: What is a reasonable or affordable solution to my audio challenges
A: Mixing seems to be the biggest challenge these days because many people are recording at home but having trouble with balancing. Our base rate is $100 for remote STEM reprinting and full SSL console mixing is available at a price that is within reach that you can actually afford.
Q: What is the biggest problem when mixing?
A: The most likely offender is the bass or low end. Have you ever taken your mix to your car and listened? Normally a couple of things happen :
- Both hands cover your face and you think about how different it sounded back in your room or…
- You guessed what the mix needed and went back into your mixing space and tried to remember what it actually sounded like and do your best guess work again.
Mixing and guessing is most likely one of the most insane things recordists do, it’s one part frustration and another part insanity. We’ve only shared this story because we’ve all done that. The good news is there is nothing wrong with your ears, it’s because the environment and tools needed for proper listening weren’t available. Most recordists we know don’t have access to million dollar rooms chalked full of the best hardware compressors, eq and reverb units in the world. Here at All Mixing, now you do.
